God Chooses What is Weak in the World - 1 Corinthians 1:18-31; Matthew 5:1-12

Pastor Betsey’s sermon, “God Chooses What Is Weak in the World,” teaches that God’s way of working often flips human expectations upside down. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 1:18–31, she explains that while the world prizes power, wisdom, status, and success, God delights in using what seems foolish, weak, and insignificant to reveal His power and glory—so that no one can boast except in the Lord. Through Matthew 5:1–12, the Beatitudes show that those the world overlooks or pities—the poor in spirit, the meek, the merciful, the peacemakers, and those who suffer for righteousness—are called blessed in God’s kingdom. The sermon encourages believers to stop measuring themselves by worldly standards, to embrace humility and dependence on God, and to trust that God can work powerfully through their limitations, suffering, and ordinary faithfulness to display His grace and transform lives.
