Pastor Betsey's sermon, I Wonder About the Lord's Supper, explores the mystery of Communion by asking not only what happens to the bread and cup, but what happens to God's people. Drawing on John 6:53–59 and Paul's teaching in 1 Corinthians, she explains that Jesus' challenging words about eating his flesh and drinking his blood are less about a miraculous change in the elements and more about a transformative change within the community of believers. Just as the manna in the wilderness sustained Israel and reminded them of God's faithful provision, Jesus is the true bread who nourishes the church and calls believers to depend on his grace together. Communion is a shared act that shapes the Body of Christ over time, reminding worshipers of Christ's sacrifice, their identity as God's beloved people, and their calling to carry Christ's life, love, and hope into their homes, workplaces, schools, hospitals, and the wider world.
